Audubon First Royal Octavo Edition Antique Prints

John James Audubon (1785-1851) The Hand-Coloured Stone Lithographs of this first royal octavo edition were done by the Philadelphia firm of J.T. Bowen in 1840-1844. The outlines were hand printed from a lithographic stone and each print was hand coloured. It is the only octavo edition in which the prints were prepared under the direct supervision of John James Audubon. We also have several prints from a later "George Lockwood" Octavo Edition. Any prints from this edition will be marked as "Lockwood Edition".
